Rowena

An SF implant since 2011 by way of NY-CT-MA-PA-CA, Rowena teaches Bhakti Flow (heated vinyasa/power yoga) for all levels/prenatal guided by breathing and alignment cues, an “ON POINT!” music playlist, and minimal demos for maximal student attention & hands-on assists. Expect to sweat, strengthen, lengthen, laugh and grow! Formerly a skeptic, Rowena discovered yoga in 2008 while recovering from chronic pain due to decades of athleticism and internalized stress from school. To Rowena, yoga is a life-long sustainable practice for rebalancing the body & mind so we can continue doing our best work off the mat. Half desi (Indian), she became a certified yoga instructor in 2014 (RYT-210 hr) to demystify the practice and share her discovery. She’s been teaching yoga ever since. With a PhD in biomedical engineering, Rowena has differentiated stem cells to form muscle or bone and developed sensors to track genetics and blood chemistry. This understanding and passion for health/wellness gives her unique tools for effectively teaching yoga. Rowena is strongly influenced by teachers Rusty Wells, Jason Crandell, Neil Wadhawan and Dominque Ponko.
